to acknowledge a few of the Highlights of 2014.



Light The Night

Light the Night 2014

"Stallions Survivors" participated for the 7th consecutive year in the Light the Night Walk for Leukemia & Lymphoma. Every year we walk in memory of Miss Jennifer's late husband and in support of those currently battling this disease. Through everyones generosity and our fundraising efforts our team raised $20,558 this year - making our seven year total just over $100,000. Thank you to everyone for your continued support in helping us with this worthwhile cause - together we can make a difference!

Santa to a Senior and Durham Police Food & Toy Drive

In the true spirit of Christmas the JAM families continue to amaze us. Thanks to everyones generosity we were able to make a number of seniors as well as childrens Christmas's just a little brighter. Couldn't be prouder of our families for there willingness to help others.

Team Canada

Team CanadaJAM dancer - Saige Kaczun was selected to represent Canada at the International Dance Organziation competition in Mikolajki, Poland in December. Saige competed as part of Team Canada's Ballet Formation as well as the Jazz Formation and Small Group. The jazz routines brought home a 5th place finish with the ballet formation bringing home the GOLD for Canada. Well done Saige - we are all proud of you!


BATD Scholarships Nominations

Another successful year for our hardworking students who received scholarship nominations by the examiners of the prestigious British Association Teachers of Dance. Each year students who have reached the appropriate level can take dance examinations with the B.A.T.D. An examiner may choose to select candidates from these exams to attend scholarship classes at the National Conference in October. This year the following students were nominated by the examiners after achieving outstanding exam results. They were as follows:

Ballet Division - Nicole Cain, Meghan Elsenaar, Yasmin Elliott, Blair Irish and Hannah Jaramillo

Tap Division - Yasmin Elliott, Paige Espinola, Julia Everitt, Ashlynn Heinrich, Blair Irish, Olivia Lazzaro, Sabrina Major, Jessica Maracle, Mhairi Rothery and Sam Walcer.


Cut for Cancer

This summer, the family, friends and students of Jennifer's Arts In Motion, Maria Antonio Hair Designs and stylists Jolene Mazgay and Elaine Scudds joined forces for its 7th Annual Cut for Cancer. Together $1125. was raised and donated to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

Locks of Love also received over 50 bundles of hair to help make wigs for cancer patients.

Pino Gravina Memorial, Sequins Plus and Fresh Dance Awards

Pino Award 2014The Pino Gravina Memorial Award was created in memory of Miss Jennifer's late husband Pino Gravina. Every year it is awarded to two students who have worked hard, showed consistently good work ethic and determination - qualities that exemplified who Pino was as a person. This year there were so many deserving students that three were selected instead of two - this years winners were - Victoria Gravina, Ashlynn Heinrich and Alicia Pokupec.

Every year Sequins Plus has also generously donated scholarships to be awarded to students who have displayed exceptional potential and dedication to the art of dance. This years deserving receipients were - Sophia Makris, Diana Visockas and Kelsey Wakely.

For the second year Fresh Dance has also donated a scholarship to be awarded to a dancer who was consistently hard working - this years recipient was Deanna Shaw.

This year the studio has also awarded medals to dancers chosen by their teachers for "Outstanding Potential" and "Most Improved". This years winners were:

Most Improved - Riley Campbell, Lauren Latoski, Jessica Maracle, Emma Portelance, Deanna Shaw, Sam Walcer, Sydney Wallis and Hannah Yuan

Outstanding Potential - Kate Anderson, Megan Anderson, Sarah Dover, Nyah Gillard, Jaleah Graham, Camryn Kaiser, Beatrice Nazareth, Kymani Nicholson-Wright, Talen Tsigaris and Logan Walcer

JAM Competitive Team 2014

Light the Night 2014

JAM's 84 member competitive team continued to have outstanding results this season. Once again the team was recognized at the various competitions they attended with many top awards for choreography, most entertaining, judges choice and many top overall scores. Numerous dancers were also awarded scholarships by the judges to attend conventions and workshops. Well done team!
